Great Quebec Fishing!


Lac Sasseginega, in the Quebec wilderness, contains lunker size lake trout, northern pike and walleye.  

Bush Country's record fish:

  •  a 32 lb. lake trout caught in 1992

  •  a northern pike measuring 52 inches long caught in 1991

  •  a 20 lb. walleye caught and released in 2001

        Guests at Bush Country Camp must purchase their fishing license before getting to the camp.  Licenses and bait can be purchased in either Temiscaming or Kipawa, Quebec.

Lake Sasseginega         

            This is our number one producer of Walleye, Lake Trout, Large Northern Pike (up to 28 lb.).  A large body of water (19 miles long) but easily fishable.  

Our Portage Lakes...

Lake Ecarte (Lost Lake)

        This lake (5 miles long) is primarily a Northern Pike and Lake Trout Lake.  Boats and motors available.  Portage to Ecarte is approximately 20 minutes walking.

'H' Lake

        Our best Northern Pike water for quantity up to 20 lbs.  Boats and motors available.  Great action!  Portage to H Lake is approximately 15 minutes walking.

Forgotten Lake

        Forgotten Lake is a new lake that we have opened up.  It is catch and release only with nice Northern Pike.  The portage is approximately  15 minutes walking.

Quebec Provincial Fishing Limits and Size restrictions

Bush Country Camp imposed Size Restrictions

Walleye 6 fish  - None under 14 inches None under 14 inches or none over 23 inches (unless keeping as a trophy)
Northern Pike 6 fish - no size restrictions None over 34 inches (unless keeping as a trophy)
Lake Trout 2 fish -  no size restrictions No size restrictions

Bush Country Camp is located within Wildlife Zone 13 East.

***Note:  We, at Bush Country Camp, believe in preserving the Quebec fishing populations in all of the lakes we fish.  Therefore, we ask all of our guests to abide by not only the Quebec fishing limits, but our camp imposed size limits as well.  We believe that returning a certain size range of fish to the lake will ensure healthy, abundant fish stocks and will maintain the quality of Quebec fishing for the future.
